Sharp Blu Ray Player Model BD-HP21H
The BD-HP21H sharp blue ray player is the latest release from sharp and the successor to their BD-HP20H model. This latest released player has new upgraded features such as it's spec to profile is now 1.1 which enables you to enjoy bonus view features such as picture in picture commentary.
Although it is priced around the same area as players with 2.0 spec to profile it's all around aesthetic look keeps it selling. The BD-HP21H is a player for people who want to enjoy hi-def movies but aren't absolutely concerned with interactive extras. Although the model seems out-dated compared to competitors and shows that Sharp is starting to lag behind it, is still a high quality video player.
The trouble comes for sharp whenever this player is compared to others made by Sony, Panasonic, and Pioneer. A downsized feature of not having BD-Live functionality coupled with no ethernet cable makes software updates virtually impossible and not a good sell for people who want the most up-to-date products.
Another downsize is the fact that it cannot playback mp3's or wma-coded disks, it has the hardware with it's HDMI and component video outputs but strangely is unable to handle the disks. The fact that it is unable to handle those materials and can only decode Dolby true HD internally is not that
uncommon for an
entry-level Blue Ray player, but is worth noting when presented with
competitor players priced in the same area that are able to take on
those video formats.What the BD-HP21H lacks in performance it makes up for in outside appearance. Its outside panels are lacquered with a clean black coating and with only two buttons in the front you really get that clearcoat shining finish. Overall if you like to watch movies in hi-def and not really that concerned with special features then the Sharp Blu Ray Player HP21H is an okay entry level player to choose.
